A Little About Ourselves...
Common Ground, in short, is Arkansas State University's Gay-Straight Alliance. Our organization has been on campus for years under different names (Gay-Straight Alliance, Students of Alternative Lifestyles, ect.), but our purpose has always remained the same: to provide a safe haven for all of our students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, questioning their sexuality, or allies of those who identify as such.
This year, we've been undergoing measures to make ourselves known throughout ASU. We've added a public relations position to the Executive Committee. We are rigirously maintaining our MySpace and facebook pages. We're also becoming more proactive within ASU by introducing programs such as the Safe Zone Program.
Common Ground is also sponsoring more events. Annually, we make it a point to produce a Drag Show and a Winter Formal. Other tentative plans for this year include game nights, movie nights, social mixers. If we meet our fund-raising goals, we will also hold the Forum, a dance music party with our own resident DJ.
